Sinar Harian - Perangkap tikus berjaya
NUR FARHANA ABDUL MANAN
13 Disember 2011

Phantom voters in Selangor?
Article in Malaysiakini

Similar complaints
On Wednesday, PKR's Rawang state assemblyperson Gan Pei Nei (right) hadrevealed that a resident in Rawang had received a letter addressed to an unknown Indian woman.
According to Yeoh, the DAP has also received similar complaints from residents in the Subang Jaya and Kinrara state constituencies.
"The other two complainants received one to three letters addressed to unknown persons, not as many as the Bukit Gasing case," she said.
Old IC number for voter
In another related development, the DAP revealed that a man born in 1988 is holding an old identity card number, which was used to register another voter.
According to Kasthuri (left), a man by the name of Jenson had gone to Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua's office to register as a voter.
However, DAP workers there were shocked to discover that his MyKad carried his old IC number.
"He was born in 1988 and shouldn't display the old IC number. So we sent his registration form to the EC as a 'test'."
"And after that, a search on the EC website showed that the old IC number belongs to another voter," she said.
PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim had previously claimed that a Selangor government survey of new voters in the fourth quarter of 2011, had determined that around 134,000 of them were untraceable.

More 'phantom' voters get Najib's New Year letter
More controversies surrounding Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's New Year letter have surfaced after the opposition received yet another complaint of more than two dozens such letters being sent to unknown persons in a house in Petaling Jaya.

DAP Subang Jaya state assemblyperson Hannah Yeoh (left in photo) who is also looking after the Bukit Gasing constituency following the death of the incumbent representative, said the latest complaint was from a house in that area.
"The house owner had received 28 letters from the BN, but he doesn't know any of these people," she told a press conference with Kampung Tunku state assemblyperson Lau Weng San and Kasthuri Patto, political secretary to DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang.
To make thing worse, Yeoh said a search on the electoral roll shows that there are 37 names of unknown persons registered at that address.
"We want to ask Najib and (Selangor BN coordinator) Mohd Zin Mohamed whether these are their phantom voters?" asked the first-term assemblyperson.
By revealing such 'phantom voters' itself, Yeoh said BN is like scoring an own goal.
"I wouldn't say they are not smart, but maybe there are too many phantom voters until they also don't know (who is who)."

According to Yeoh, the DAP has also received similar complaints from residents in the Subang Jaya and Kinrara state constituencies.
"The other two complainants received one to three letters addressed to unknown persons, not as many as the Bukit Gasing case," she said.
She urged people to alert Pakatan should anyone receive similar letters.
Yeoh urged the Election Commissions to clean up the electoral roll ahead of the national polls.
Malaysiakini has also reported the case of Tiruchelvam Vallipuram, whose daughter was found to have been registered as a voter without her knowledge.
"My daughter is studying in India. She went there before turning 21 and she definitely would not have registered as a voter, he toldMalaysiakini.
"I then went into the Election Commission's website to check whether she is registered," said Tiruchelvam.
His check confirmed that his daughter is eligible to vote in the Subang Jaya state constituency and the Kelana Jaya parliamentary constituency.

Land scandal involving BN politicians in USJ
Article in Selangor Times - Big guns get cheap land
Writer: Gan Pei LingPublished: Fri, 08 Feb 2013
SUBANG JAYA: An Umno veteran politician said he was an “ordinary citizen” when he bought a piece of 5,000 sq ft state land for only RM2 per sq ft at USJ3 in 2001.
![]() |
Gobind, Ng, Yeoh and Nik Nazmi in front of USJ3 bungalows. The BN politicians have sold the land now worth RM170 per sq ft. |
Tan Sri Megat Najmuddin Megat Khas, who also sits on the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) advisory board, told Selangor Times he did purchase the land.
“Was the land alienation illegal? I paid for it. A great many others have been given land, including many government servants, Felda settlers, Chinese new villagers etc. So what is so wrong? In 2001 I was an ordinary citizen,” said the former politician in a text message.
The Umno disciplinary committee member and former Subang division chief was responding to Pakatan Rakyat (PR) lawmakers’ latest revelation that Barisan Nasional (BN) politicians had bought prime land at USJ3 at rock bottom prices, and later sold the properties at market price for profit.
Former Subang Jaya municipal councillors Lee You Hin and Yap Yun Fatt of MCA, who were also implicated, had declined to comment.
Selangor Times was unable to reach two others – former state executive councillor Datin Paduka Seripah Noli and Kelana Jaya MCA deputy chairperson Lim Kok Sai at press time.
Subang Jaya assemblyperson Hannah Yeoh took the BN politicians to task on Wednesday for obtaining public land at abnormally low prices for private gain.
State documents showed that former Selangor Menteri Besar Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo’s administration had approved the sale of 99 plots of land in USJ3, each around 5,000 sq ft, for between RM8,000 to RM19,000 on Feb 20, 2001.
This is on top of the 24 plots of land totalling 33.5 acres alienated to BN component parties for only RM1 per sq ft exposed by Yeoh’s DAP colleague Sekinchan assemblyperson Ng Suee Lim last November.
![]() |
Yeoh is unsure of USJ3 property prices in 2001 but told reporters the land is now worth around RM170 per sq ft – meaning a 5,000 sq ft plot can be sold for nearly a million.
All five politicians have since sold their land at the now affluent neighbourhood of USJ3B and USJ3D.
Ng, Seri Setia assemblyperson Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad and Puchong member of Parliament Gobind Singh Deo said the public should press BN politicians for an explanation in the upcoming polls.
Selangor BN lawmakers had previously claimed that their parties were given land at discounted prices to build public amenities like kindergartens and community halls.
But PR legislators later disclosed that the lands have been sold to build condominiums, shoplots and bungalows.
Human rights lawyer Edmund Bon said the MACC and the police should probe into the land sales for possible abuse of power or conflict of interest.

MCA's unbelievable response to justify cheap premium for bungalow lands in USJ
When media pursued for an answer from MCA Kelana Jaya on the cheap premium for bungalow lands in USJ, given to BN politicians, here's their response (please see portion highlighted in yellow below) :
Sinar Harian : Pemimpin BN Selangor nafi rampas tanah rakyat
NUR FARHANA ABDUL MANAN
8 Februari 2013

Lee You Hin

Press statement on fake DAP & PAS banners
Press Statement dated 8 April 2013
Over the last weekend of 6-7 April 2013, banners purportedly bearing messages from DAP and PAS have sprung up all across DUN Subang Jaya. These banners bearing photographs of Sdr Lim Kit Siang and Dato' Seri Haji Abdul Hadi bin Awang with their respective party symbols carry different political messages which are aimed to mislead voters ahead of the 13thGeneral Elections.
Pakatan Rakyat Kelana Jaya detects the work of our political opponents here and strongly condemns such cowardice act of impersonation and manipulation. We call upon our political opponents, Barisan Nasional Kelana Jaya and the prospective candidates from MCA and UMNO to commit to a clean campaign. Even before the start of official campaigning, Barisan Nasional Kelana Jaya has already displayed the nature of dirty campaigning which they will be resorting to. We pledge a clean and fair elections and we in Pakatan Rakyat will not tolerate anything less.
DAP banners and flags have also gone missing within a day of being displayed for the launch of our elections operations centre while BN flags remain untouched. Why is MCA and UMNO Kelana Jaya so afraid of the DAP flag? We in Pakatan Rakyat Kelana Jaya are amazed that BN has not learned its lesson from 2008. They should not fear our flags, but instead fear the power of the people.
We hereby remind Barisan Nasional Kelana Jaya to stop employing dirty tricks and it is about time that the leaders of MCA Kelana Jaya begin assuming responsibility for the misconduct of their members and supporters. Our residents and supporters in Subang Jaya have been placed on high alert and will be monitoring the streets right up to polling day. We will not hesitate in naming and shaming the responsible culprits should they conjure up more dirty tricks.
